There are many benefits to owning indoor plants, and many advantages over owning a pet. Once you by that first plant, it’s very easy to buy another…. and another. Pretty soon you’ve got more plants than you have room for. In fact, this is exactly what happened to me. So in this article we’re going to look at the best indoor plant stands for multiple plants.
Between me and my girlfriend, we own several houseplants. Plus I just ordered my first bonsai tree. In addition to that we’re always talking about what other new plants we want to buy. We have a huge living room window that gets a lot of sun, but the table there now is small and full.
So I’ve recently been browsing Amazon and pouring through reviews and item descriptions looking for the perfect multi-tiered plant stand to go in front of our living room window. There are many options out there, but the ones in this article made my shortlist when I was shopping for one. Let’s take a look at the one’s I came across and the one I ended up buying.
Best indoor plant stands for multiple plants
*Best overall: Costway 5 Tier Bamboo Plant Stand– The Costway 5 tier is big, sturdy, and bamboo. This is the unit I ended up purchasing. I chose it because of it’s large size and style along with it’s great reviews.
*Best value: VIVOSUN 9 Tier Wood Plant Stand – The VIVOSUN is a bit cheaper than the Costway, and has a much more unique style. It’s also darker wood which you may prefer. A nice looking multi-tiered plant stand.
*Best for small spaces and corners: Magshion Bamboo 4 Tier Plant Stand – This option from Magshion has a minimal floor footprint and fits nicely into corners. It costs less but it also holds less plants. Solid choice if you aren’t looking for anything big.
Here’s a list of 9 of the best indoor plant stands for multiple plants that I came across when recently shopping for one.
We’ll start first with the one I ended up buying.
1. Costway Multifunctional 5 Tier Bamboo Plant Display Stand
Best overall
Features
- LxWxH: 45.5 x 12.5 x 55.5 inches
- Material: Bamboo
- Shelves: 5
- Plant capacity: 9-12
- Weight capacity: 88 lbs
I think there are a number of reasons why I like this plant stand. First, I love the bamboo construction and overall style of it. I also like that it’s lightweight yet sturdy. With the 5 tiers and multiple shelves it will have plenty of room for our current plants and any future plants we get in the future.
I was ok with the price because I feel like it’s a quality piece of wood furniture. In the end it’s durable, looks nice, had good reviews, and holds a lot of plants. Plain and simple, that’s why I chose this one. I expect this to last me for many years and house many plants.
2.VIVOSUN 9 Tier Wooden Plant Stand
Best value
Features
- LxWxH: 47.2 x 9.8 x 44.5 inches
- Material: Premium fir wood
- Shelves: 9
- Plant capacity: 17
This option from VIVOSUN was my runner up, I almost pulled the trigger on it. It has a really nice design, with more of a tiered shelf look. The wood is fir and has been treated so it’s moisture resistant.
It’s not as tall as the Costway, but it is a little bit wider and probably holds just as many plants, if not more. It all depends on the size of your plants. It claims to be easy to put together, sturdy, and well-made. The price is right for this one and the dark finish might work better for some people.
3. COPREE 9 Tier Bamboo Plant Stand
Features
- LxWxH: 35.8 x 8.3 x 47.2 inches
- Material: Bamboo
- Shelves: 9
- Plant capacity: 17
COPREE actually has several nice options for plant stands, and you’ll see a few more on this list. It’s similar to the plant stand from Costway as they’re both bamboo. However this option has more individual platforms, and also has a bit of a smaller footprint.
So this one might work if you have have a bunch of smaller plants, or less floor space. It’s made of anti-corrosion and insect protection bamboo and is simple to put together. Just another simple plant stand that holds multiple plants.
4. COPREE 5 Tier Bamboo Plant Stand
Features
- LxWxH: 15.7 x 8.3 x 40.2 inches
- Material: Bamboo
- Number of shelves: 5
- Plant capacity: 6
This is another option from COPREE, but this one is a smaller one. It’s also made of the anti-corrosive bamboo and has the same general construction, but it’s going to take up a lot less room and hold less plants.
This 5 shelf plant stand basically looks like just one of the sides of the larger COPREE plant stand above, just shorter. It would do well in a corner or for someone who doesn’t have much floor space to spare.
5. CFMOUR Multi-tier Wood Plant Display Stand
Features
- LxWxH: 38 x 10 x 37 inches
- Material: Natural wood
- Number of shelves: 5
- Plant capacity: 12
- Weight capacity: 120 lbs
This option from CFMOUR is unique and I can see why it’s so popular. The dark wood finish looks nice and the “X” stand on the left side really makes this one stand out. It looks similar to the VIVOSUN in some ways, but it’s not symmetrical and it’s overall smaller and holds less plants.
It claims to be easy to install and put together, very sturdy holding up to 120 lbs, and it’s priced very fairly for a solid wood piece of furniture.
6. SONGMICS Bamboo Adjustable Multi-tiered Plant Stand
Features
- LxWxH: 27.2 x 27.2 x 38.8 inches
- Material: bamboo
- Shelves: 5
- Plant capacity: 6-10
- Weight capacity: 33-40 lbs
This dark finish bamboo plant stand is made by SONGMICS and can can be put together with a 90 degree angle so it fits in corners, or 180 degrees so it can go up against a wall or window.
This unit is very multi-functional and would work well in a number of different rooms and locations. I also like the dark bamboo. A nice piece overall with mostly good reviews.
7. Magshion Bamboo Tall Plant Stand For Small Space (4 Tier)
Great for corners
Features
- LxWxH: 14.6 x 14.6 x 47.2 inches
- Material: bamboo
- Shelves: 4
- Plant capacity: 4-6
- Weight capacity: 20-25 lbs
Here’s a simple A-frame design that will fit right into a corner by a window, and take up minimal floor space. Because of the tapering design it will remain very sturdy, it also comes in 2 and 3 tier variants.
If my large front room window runs out of space and I need a small one for the corner by the tv, I’ll likely pick up one of these. I really like the simplicity.
8. COPREE 6 Tier Bamboo Rolling Plant Stand
Features
- LxWxH: 34.3 x 9.84 x 25 inches
- Material: Bamboo
- Shelves: 6
- Plant capacity: 6
If you’re looking for something that can easily be moved and repositioned, then this one may be for you. I can imagine this near a kitchen window, or being repositioned into more direct sunlight throughout the day as the sun moves overhead.
Like most of the others on this list, it’s made of solid bamboo slats. Because of the “A” shape that it can hold a good amount of weight no problem. The manufacturer describes it as “super bearing capacity: so take that for what you will. I really like this one, which is why it made this list.
9. COPREE 3-Tier Bamboo Hanging Plant Stand
Features
- LxWxH: 27.5 x 15.5 x 56.8 inches
- Material: Bamboo
- Shelves: 3
- Plant capacity: 12-15
Last up on the list of best indoor plant stands for multiple plants is one more option from COPREE. Now this one only has 3 shelves, but they’re wider shelves with a lot of room, and you have a hanging rod that goes up almost 5 feet.
So this could be a great option for something with hanging plants, or that just likes the lean-to design of this model. COPREE really has a lot of options, and most didn’t make it onto this list. Here’s a link to the COPREE storefront on Amazon.
5 things to consider when purchasing your plant stand
Before you start shopping, there are a few things you should already know. These things aren’t related to the plant stand itself but more to where it’s going and what it’ll be used for.
1. Current and future plants
First, consider how many plants you currently have and what size they are. Make sure you know the rough measurements so you can know if they’ll fit in a particular shelf.
Also, if you are going to be getting new plants over the years you may want to get something with a little room to grow. That’s what I did.
2. Space and location
Also consider how much room you have in your house or apartment.
How much sunlight does the area get where you are placing the plant stand? If it’s not much, then maybe you can rearrange some things in your house and move it somewhere that does get plenty of sunlight.
Also very important, measure the floor space you have available with a tape measure before you click on the buy button. It just takes a couple of minutes and can save you a headache.
3. Material and style
Also ask yourself what type of material you want and the style of the plant stand. I really liked the bamboo slats, and that’s what most of the options available are made of. Bamboo is a really durable wood and it matures in only 4-5 years unlike other trees that take decades. So it’s highly sustainable and eco friendly.
There’s light finish bamboo and dark, there’s other types of wood, I’ve seen cast iron, plastic. You can find all types of plant stands out there, but I do believe that the ones on this list are some of the best plant stands. Hopefully they at least lead you down a path to find the one for you.
4. Other features
Do you need your plant stand to have any special features, or do you just want a simple plant stand? I didn’t really have anything specific I wanted, other than plenty of room and and open back because it’s going up against a window.
The wheels and the hanging rod on numbers 8 and 9 were nice bonus features for some people. Some it’s definitely something to consider.
5. Price range
This price range isn’t a big deal for many people, and these products are all priced pretty similar so it’s just about finding the best plant stand for you. Just keep in mind, you get what you pay for. I feel like it’s best to pay a little bit extra to get the added quality that you typically get in the next up from the bottom price range.
Tell yourself what you’re willing to pay, and find the best deal you can.
Conclusion
While all this plant stand research was fresh on my mind I wanted to share some of the options I came across during my research. I think there is something for most people in this list of plant stands for multiple plants. Or it at the very least I hope that I helped you decide what will work for you based on your tastes. There is certainly no shortage of options out there.
